Biologics Assistant (Distribution)

OneBlood is a not-for-profit organization responsible for providing safe and affordable blood to over 200 hospital partners. The Biologics Assistant will manage and distribute blood and blood components, ensuring compliance with standard operating procedures and maintaining quality control.

Responsibilities

Ensures suitability and accurate labeling of products for release and distribution
Performs data entry associated with component production, labeling, storage and shipping ensuring accurate and complete manufacturing records
Manufactures, stores and distributes blood and blood products
Operates, maintains and performs quality control checks on equipment
Performs the quarantine and disposition of unacceptable products and/or samples and performs quality control on blood products
Ensures adequate inventory of required supplies
Provides customer service to internal and external customers and vendors
May operate a OneBlood courier vehicle when applicable

Required

High School diploma or equivalent
Proficient computer skills
Ability to organize work for timely completion
Ability to multi-task, while maintaining the safety of blood components
Ability to follow complex oral and written instructions
Ability to speak, write, read and understand English
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with customers and those contacted in the course of work
Basic computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
Skill in operating office equipment and technology
Ability to report to work during a disaster, public health emergency or other catastrophic event
Moderately physically demanding work for extended periods of time, involving standing, lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (up to 50 pounds)
Ability to perform tasks that may involve some climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling
Ability to work in an environment with potential exposure to adverse conditions, such as inclement weather, atmospheric elements and pathogenic substances
Ability to work in conditions that could expose the employee to blood-borne pathogens and freezers at below-freezing temperatures (-30F/-35C)
