Responsibilities

Operations management, capital, and operating budget, and labor resource allocation for the campus utility production facilities and distribution systems
Provides leadership and management for approximately 25 personnel with one manager level direct report
Responsible to the Department Director for developing/implementing the various Department Program to include: Capital Renewal, Deferred Maintenance, Utility Building, Project Management, Maintenance (Corrective, Preventive, Predictive, Reactive), coordinating with engineers, campus construction services department, and contractors on construction projects that impact the utility distribution systems
Managing the campus utility production facilities and the utility distribution system for steam (130,000 lb/hr), condensate, chilled water (14,550 tons), heating water, compressed air, and 5,000 kW medium voltage distribution
Providing oversight of job order contractors, sub-contractors, contract maintenance vendors, and University trades shops in performance of work on utility production and distribution systems or equipment
Assisting in engineering system design and routinely performs quality control of new utility equipment and system component installations
Responsible for coordinating utility outages to minimize the impact to campus customers
Manage multiple critical equipment service agreements and a critical spare parts inventory
Managing the operation, maintenance, and regulatory compliance requirements of the University-owned high-pressure natural gas pipeline
Facilitating regulatory inspections, training, and safety exercises as required by state and federal code
Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others

Required

Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution of higher education
At least eight years of related experience
At least two years of supervisory experience

Preferred

Applicable equivalencies may be considered on the above qualifications
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or industrial engineering from an accredited institution of higher education
Experience in multi-trade advanced level of knowledge in a Plants Various Engineering Systems to include Master's level troubleshooting skills
Experience with building, implement and improvement Plant Programs such as Preventive/Predictive Maintenance Plans, Organization Communication Plans and detailed Processes and Procedures
License or Certificate (see special instructions for submission instructions)
