Human Resources Analyst (Analyst I - Personnel Management Division)

Responsibilities
Join the Service and Seniority Unit (SSU) as an Analyst I in the Personnel Management Division (PMD) at the Department of Human Resources where your expertise will make a real impact statewide!
Become a statewide subject-matter expert in state service and seniority calculations
Qualification
Required
Strong analytical and mathematical skills to review employment history records, calculate state service and seniority, and interpret complex data
Current version of the State Examination/Employment Application STD Form 678 (when not applying electronically), or the Electronic State Employment Application through your Applicant Account at www.CalCareers.ca.gov
A Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) is required and must be included
If you are using education to meet the Minimum Qualifications of the classification, please include your unofficial transcripts
Applicants must number and include the full text of the SOQ items in their response
SOQs should be limited to a maximum of two (2) pages, single-spaced, twelve-point Arial font

Preferred
Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, including the ability to research, interpret, and apply complex laws, rules, regulations, and policies related to state service, seniority, and personnel management
Experience reviewing and interpreting employment history records, including familiarity with State Controller's Office systems such as PIMS or similar personnel/payroll data systems
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Access, including the ability to perform calculations, use formulas, manage datasets, and prepare clear and accurate documentation
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear and concise correspondence and reports
Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize work, manage competing deadlines, and maintain accuracy in a high-volume environment
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, exercising sound judgment and maintaining a high degree of professionalism

This position is eligible for a 5% pay differential (Pay Diff 248).
