Medical Assistant II/ III - Internal Medicine - Allergy & Immunology

They are seeking a dedicated full-time Medical Assistant to support the Allergy & Immunology Clinic, playing a vital role in delivering safe and effective patient care as part of the clinical care team.

Responsibilities

Performs responsibilities in a manner that promotes quality patient care and customer service/satisfaction
Effectively participates in planning and preparing for patient visits ensuring appropriate schedules, test results, and clinic specific requirements are available
Rooms patients consistent with clinic needs while determining and documenting chief complaint and reason for visit, vital signs, medication list, allergies, smoking history and other information as required by clinic. Keeps patients informed of delays and progress of clinical appointments
As required and competency validated, performs appropriate hearing and vision testing, EKG, spirometry, point of care testing, specimen collection, equipment cleaning/reprocessing and other requested procedures
Prepares and stocks rooms (daily/weekly) and clinic supplies in advance of clinic visit as well as cleaning rooms appropriately between patients
Prepares for and assists with routine and specialty procedures
Schedules patients for follow up appointments or referrals and performs routine clerical duties for team and staff to include photocopying, scanning and faxing
Performs telephone messaging and in person screening with appropriate follow up
Responds to emergency situations
Respects and maintains privacy and confidentiality per HIPAA guidelines
Performs other duties as assigned

Required

Basic Life Support (BLS) by American Heart Association (AHA) required
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) by American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) required or
Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) by American Medical Technologist (AMT) required or
National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) by National Center for Competency Testing required or
Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) by National Healthcareer Association (NHA) required
High school diploma or equivalent
Completion of an approved Medical Assistant training program OR one (1) year of experience (in addition to the three (3) years of experience required to meet the experience requirement) AND certification may be substituted for Medical Assistant training program
One experience in a healthcare setting required
Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects

Preferred

Three years of experience in a healthcare setting preferred
