EMS Engineer – Level I

Logical Solutions, Inc. is focused on the energy management and building automation industry. The EMS Engineer – Level I will learn the basics of controls engineering and perform various responsibilities under the guidance of senior engineers and project managers, including creating installation submittals and programming controllers.

Responsibilities

Creating controls installation submittals, I/O module wiring diagrams, and bills of material from the project site walks, sales estimate, and contract documents
Establishing the project material requirements from installation and submittal packages
Creating the programming for the controllers
Developing sequences of operation via specifications, correspondence from other departments or the customer
Developing the project graphics by utilizing software available
Programming and graphic projects
As-built and operation/maintenance documents
Assist a Level II/III or PM/EMS Technician to perform controls project start-up and commissioning
Perform troubleshooting, testing and commissioning on BMS alongside assigned EMS Technicians
Coordinate work with other trades (i.e. electricians, HVAC technicians)
Work according to project schedules, financial budgets, priorities, and required processes
Understand Windows and basic computer functions, including Word, Excel, Browsers, and Email
Read and understand LSI Installation / Commissioning Standards / ARC 156 Rules
Understand basic HVAC equipment operation and differences between units
Communicate in basic electrical knowledge
Read equipment schematics and physically field verify equipment
Accurately and timely records and submits timesheets
Understand the importance of communication and coordination with other departments/people/trades
Work proficiently in individual and team settings
Handle multiple tasks/assignments simultaneously and report to management correctly
Self-motivated to continue learning about the industry and ALC technology, even outside of normal hours
Attain new skills while reaching goals set by team leader
Demonstrate great punctuality and professionalism
Communicate needs for assistance, resources, training, and support in a timely fashion
Keep focus on assigned tasks
Minimize outside distractions to continue production
Remain approachable / listen / take ownership of issues / have a strong work ethic
Identify equipment on floor plans
Understand equipment schematics, submittals, and module sheets
Understand RFIs (Requests for Information) and utilize early in project process to keep schedule
Understand WebCTRL system navigation, logic page structure, and system layouts
Work to LSI Engineering Standards on all assigned tasks
Knowledgeable on inputs and outputs (binary, analog, universal, network)
Produce quality control submittal packages for construction, including product data sheets, network risers, equipment control diagrams, bills of material, and sequences of operation per equipment
Produce accurate databases, accurate floorplans, and equipment graphics per standards
Understand LSI Engineering Network Drive and Document Preservation requirements
Understand and operate Engineering Design Suite (EDS) without constant assistance
Identify scope of work coverage and outlying/missed equipment to team leader / project manager in project infancy
Understand LSI recommended materials / manufacturers / vendors
Knowledge of WebCTRL alarms, schedules, properties, parameters, and trends
Manage personal workload to ensure deadlines are achieved with quality by communicating real-time with management
Properly use and complete project checklists and red books (project process documents)
Obtain all red line / project close out information in a timely fashion
Complete as-built and operation/maintenance packages by working with project team to obtain red-lines, scope changes, etc
Complete and document all project information immediately upon completion
