Start in 2026 SummerFarm Bureau Financial Services is offering an accounting internship opportunity for individuals to gain experience in the property and casualty insurance industry. As a PC Accounting Intern, you will assist in financial reporting and analysis, month-end processes, and gain exposure to various accounting systems.

Responsibilities
Working with and assisting in the financial reporting and analysis for the PC Companies
Aid in the month-end processes such as preparing loss analytics and updating catastrophe loss metrics
Help with settlements, individual claim billings, receipts, and research related to non-storm events like wildfires and winter storms
Balance, reconcile, and record financial transactions while performing detailed reconciliations for bank and suspense accounts
Exposure to our accounting system, reinsurance system, and learn more technical skills in Excel such as Power Query
Performing tasks or working on projects within your hired work area
Exposed to learning in other areas within your assigned division
Shared experiences across the organization
Qualification
Required
Be a junior/senior working towards a bachelor's degree in the field of Accounting, or Finance
Ability to work full-time (8am-4:30pm M-F) during summer 2026, in-person at our Home Office in West Des Moines, IA
Have a minimum GPA of 3.0
Have strong communication skills, sense of initiative and teamwork
Have a strong attention to detail and good organizational skills
Must possess good problem-solving skills
Experienced in Microsoft Excel
