Responsibilities
Morning Check-in: Review overnight alerts and monitoring dashboards for any critical issues across all systems (DB2, Oracle, Cognos, Datastage)
Check for any new service requests or incidents related to data management
Prioritize tasks based on urgency and impact
Communication: Respond to emails and messages related to data management tasks
Participate in daily stand-up meetings (if applicable) to provide updates on progress and any roadblocks
Documentation: Document all work performed, including changes made, issues encountered, and resolutions
Update knowledge base articles as needed
DB2 Administration (Bare Metal Red Hat Linux): Database Monitoring: Monitor DB2 database performance metrics (CPU usage, memory usage, disk I/O, buffer pool hit ratios)
Check for any database errors or warnings in the DB2 diagnostic logs
Monitor database backup and recovery processes
Maintenance: Perform routine database maintenance tasks (e.g., running RUNSTATS, REORGCHK, REORG)
Apply database patches and upgrades as needed (following change management procedures)
Security: Review DB2 security settings and user access privileges
Monitor for any unauthorized access attempts
Data Modeling (Erwin Data Modeler): Model Maintenance: Update data models based on changes to business requirements or system implementations
Ensure data models are consistent and accurate
Maintain version control of data models
Collaboration: Work with business analysts and developers to understand data requirements
Review data models with stakeholders to ensure they meet business needs
Business Intelligence (IBM Cognos Analytics): Report Monitoring: Monitor the performance of Cognos reports and dashboards
Investigate and resolve any report errors or performance issues
Content Management: Manage Cognos content (reports, dashboards, data modules)
Ensure content is organized and accessible to users
User Support: Provide support to Cognos users, answering questions and troubleshooting issues
Data Warehousing (Oracle): ETL Monitoring: Monitor the execution of ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes that load data into the Oracle data warehouse
Investigate and resolve any ETL errors or performance issues
Data Quality: Monitor data quality in the data warehouse
Identify and correct data quality issues
Performance Tuning: Tune Oracle database performance to optimize query response times
Data Integration (IBM Datastage): Job Monitoring: Monitor the execution of DataStage jobs
Investigate and resolve any job failures or performance issues
Job Maintenance: Modify and update DataStage jobs as needed to meet changing data integration requirements
IBM Cloud Pak for Data / Knowledge Catalog: Metadata Management: Review and update metadata in the Knowledge Catalog
Monitor data lineage and impact analysis
Data Governance: Enforce data governance policies
Address any data quality or compliance issues identified
Snowflake Data Warehouse: Data Pipeline Monitoring: Monitor data pipelines loading data into Snowflake
Troubleshoot any pipeline failures or performance issues
Performance Optimization: Optimize Snowflake queries and data structures for performance
Artificial Intelligence (AI): Model Monitoring: Monitor the performance of deployed AI models
Work with data scientists to address any model degradation or accuracy issues
Data Preparation: Prepare data for AI model training and deployment
Qualification
Required
Experience with DB2 Administration on Bare Metal Red Hat Linux
Experience with Data Modeling using Erwin Data Modeler
Experience with Business Intelligence tools, specifically IBM Cognos Analytics
Experience with Data Warehousing, specifically Oracle
Experience with ETL processes and tools, specifically IBM Datastage
Experience with IBM Cloud Pak for Data and Knowledge Catalog
Experience with Snowflake Data Warehouse
Experience with Artificial Intelligence model monitoring and data preparation
Strong communication skills for collaboration with business analysts and developers
Ability to document work performed and update knowledge base articles
Experience in monitoring database performance metrics and troubleshooting issues
Experience in data quality monitoring and performance tuning
