Development Technician

Responsibilities
Conduct experimental work (coatings formulation, application, testing) under the direction of a chemist, engineer or supervisor
Primary work includes producing paint samples, applying paint samples onto desired substrates per formulation and technology guidelines and evaluating properties of both wet and dried paint samples
Understand functionality of a wide array of laboratory equipment, and troubleshoot equipment
Follow project timelines and goals, determined by chemist, engineer and supervisors
Communicate results to team members and contribute ideas in a team environment, observes unusual results and suggests possible root causes
Guide new products from lab into production working with Manufacturing and related areas
Document laboratory testing results
Ensure recordkeeping through written/verbal summaries, demonstrating coatings terminology
Track label panels and wet samples and associate with laboratory results
Infrequent travel may be required for internal training and customer line trial validation of new product formulations
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Chemistry and Algebra courses
Follow EH&S and SOP protocols
Oracle R12 experience
2+ years of relevant experience and a demonstrated track record in coatings
