The Apprenticeship Guide is offering a Trainee Civil Engineer Degree Apprenticeship with BAM, a company with a 150-year reputation in construction. The role involves supporting experienced engineers on civil engineering projects while studying for a degree in civil engineering, with a focus on technical, organizational, and supervisory aspects of construction.

Responsibilities

Collaborating with experienced engineers on the design, planning and execution of civil engineering projects
Communicating effectively at all levels
Assist with planning and coordination of site activities
Maintaining good working relationships with client, designer, supply chain and others
Gain hands-on experience with engineering tools and processes
Learn how to use specialist setting out equipment
Learn how to overcome challenges on live projects
Drive quality through effective planning and right first time delivery
Be part of real construction projects and work closely with our skilled workforce, applying your learning and knowledge in real world scenarios
Maintain diaries of site activity
Help to ensure that work is carried out safely in line with the company Health and Safety
Maintaining high personal standards in health and safety
Maintaining high standards in environmental awareness and behaviour
Monitoring and recording delivery against the agreed programme and construction methods
Ensuring that works are accurately and clear set out before work commences

Required

Completed a level 4 Civil Engineering apprenticeship or HNC in Civil Engineering
GCSE grade 5 (B) or above in Maths
GCSE grade 4 (C) or above in English Language
3 additional GCSE's grade 4 and above
Due to funding and eligibility requirements, we are unable to accept applications from candidates that have not fully completed an apprenticeship at level 4
We are also unable to accept applications from candidates that are already enrolled on to a similar programme at level 6
Willing to travel and stay away from home when necessary
Hold a full UK driving license

Disciplined and able to manage degree level study and a busy job role
A passion and desire to learn and grow within the industry
Highly numerate with an attention to detail
Able to adapt when priorities change
Happy to work on site and travel as and when required
