Mechanical Project Manager

NAES Corporation is seeking a Mechanical Project Manager to support multiple capital and plant modification projects at an operating coal-fired power generation facility. This role is responsible for managing mechanical scopes from project initiation through construction, outage execution, and turnover to operations.

Responsibilities

Manage multiple mechanical capital and modification projects concurrently at an operating coal-fired power plant
Lead mechanical project execution across all phases, including scope development, engineering coordination, contractor selection, budgeting, scheduling, construction oversight, outage planning, commissioning, and turnover
Serve as the primary onsite project lead, coordinating closely with plant operations, maintenance, engineering, safety, and external contractors
Oversee contractor activities to ensure work is performed safely, in compliance with plant standards, and aligned with approved schedules and budgets
Interface with structural and water chemistry subject-matter experts as needed while maintaining ownership of overall project delivery
Monitor project progress, manage risks, and proactively address field issues to minimize schedule and cost impacts
Provide regular project status updates, reporting on schedule, cost, risks, and milestones to plant leadership

Required

Experience managing mechanical capital and modification projects at operating coal-fired power plants or heavy industrial facilities
Direct involvement with mechanical scopes such as dumper systems, material handling equipment, wastewater treatment systems, piping, pumps, valves, and other balance-of-plant mechanical systems
Ability to lead multiple concurrent projects, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, contractor coordination, and field execution within an active plant environment
Demonstrated ability to manage contractors and lead field execution in active, operating facilities
Solid understanding of mechanical systems commonly found in power plants, including rotating equipment, piping systems, pumps, valves, material handling systems, and balance-of-plant equipment
Proficiency in coordinating with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to resolve field issues, manage changes, and maintain project schedules
Effective communication and documentation skills, with the ability to provide clear project status updates, track action items, and support management decision-making

Preferred

Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent mechanical technical background preferred
7+ years of experience managing mechanical projects at large power plants; coal-fired power plant experience preferred
Experience managing mechanical project scopes with budgets of $5M or greater preferred
