HR GENERALIST

Habitat for Humanity Seattle-King & Kittitas Counties is one of the largest Habitat affiliates in the country, dedicated to generating a lasting impact on affordable homeownership in the Puget Sound. They are seeking a Human Resources Generalist to manage recruitment, onboarding, and employee relations, ensuring the workforce is equipped to deliver impactful results in the community.

Construction

Responsibilities

Manage the recruitment/hiring process by creating job postings, source candidates, conducting phone screens, performing background checks, assisting in shortlisting, and issuing job offers. Partner with hiring managers to understand staffing needs and ensure effective, timely hiring
Oversee onboarding for new hires to ensure a positive and thorough transition into the organization
Provide prompt support by responding to internal and external HR inquiries, redistributing calls, and directing correspondence to the relevant team members as needed
Serve as a point of contact for retail employees regarding HR-related questions and concerns
Support managers with performance reviews, providing tools and guidance for constructive feedback
Assist with the development and implementation of performance improvement plans as needed, while proactively working to prevent the need for disciplinary actions through training, clear communication of expectations, and fostering a supportive work environment
Oversee all Retail employee relations issues in a fair, thorough, and timely manner in accordance with HR best practices, organizational policies, and employment laws and regulations
Support strategic initiatives that advance the Retail department’s mission and goals in partnership with the HR Manager and retail leadership
Oversee a smooth offboarding process, including final pay, benefits administration, and necessary documentation
Coordinate and oversee Retail work-related injury claims, supporting employees through the return-to-work process in collaboration with the HR Manager, Safety Manager, and the employee’s direct supervisor to ensure safe and timely reintegration into the workplace
Accurately maintain employee records, process HR-related data in HRIS (Paycom)
Actively participate in initiatives that support retention, recognition, and workforce development aligned with organizational goals
Post employee anniversaries and birthdays on Viva Engage to support engagement and recognition efforts
Other duties as assigned

Required

Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience
Minimum three (3) years increasingly responsible human resources generalist experience
Strong knowledge of HR practices, labor laws, and employment regulations
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships across teams
Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities efficiently and effectively
Strong organizational skills and a proven track record of meeting deadlines and maintaining attention to detail
Proficient and experienced with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint

Preferred

Experience working in a nonprofit environment is desired
