CIRL Flow Cytometry Lab Scientist

Responsibilities
Completes all aspects of immunophenotyping including sample preparation, staining acquisition, and data analysis using flow cytometry technology
Analyzes, evaluates, interprets, and reports test results
Operates, calibrates and performs routine maintenance on new and existing lab equipment
Maintains stock of chemicals, reagents, and supplies by ordering, purchasing, or by personal preparation
Develops, validates and writes procedures for diagnostic tests
Performs, interprets, and reports validation studies, proficiency testing, procedure Turnaround Time (TAT), and productivity according to laboratory guidelines
Verifies accuracy and precision of test methods using standard statistical techniques. Creates and maintains accurate and timely records of procedures and test results
Develops and applies standard quality control procedures to assure the quality of test results. Interacts with clinical supervisory personnel, physicians, faculty and other laboratory technologists
Maintains a safe environment by following CDC, OSHA, Joint Commission, CLIA, California and CAP guidelines. Communicates test information concerning methods and procedures, sample and storage requirements, TATs, days tests are performed, and QC trends
Utilizes Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) to perform tasks such as test ordering, specimen accessioning, reporting, correcting, changing, crediting, and looking up previous results. Maintains client relationships and asks as knowledge resource for external labs and submitters. Attends conferences as applicable to demonstrate value of testing
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree Requires advanced level of chemistry, biology, genetics, and mathematics, acquired through completion of a Bachelor's degree in science
1+ years experience performing cytometry
Preferred
Advanced graduate degree or training in laboratory science
Clinical laboratory experience with certification and/or eligibility as a medical technologist (clinical laboratory scientist)
Experience with capillary electrophoresis equipment and/or flow cytometry equipment
