Lead Laborer - Facilities Management and Development
California State University, Long Beach is responsible for the planning, design, construction, operations, maintenance, and repair of university facilities. The Lead Laborer will oversee laborer staff, assist in daily planning, and ensure safety and operational concerns are addressed promptly.

Responsibilities
Respond to or support laborer staff in the immediate response to safety and/or operational concerns (e.g. facility damage, vandalism, etc.) for the purpose of taking appropriate action or notifying appropriate personnel
Assist the Support Services Manager with the daily planning and scheduling of laborer tasks and projects
Train and instruct others in the performance of their duties, including appropriate laborer practices and techniques, and the safe use of equipment and materials
Assign work to others according to established guidelines and procedures
Oversee and work with a crew of employees engaged in laborer related tasks such as moving, event support, reactive/emergent facility responses, Environmental Health and Safety support, and FMD trades crews support
Move, transport, load and unload heavy objects such as furniture, equipment, materials and supplies
Qualification
Required

Any combination of training, experience, and/or education sufficient to demonstrate the required qualifications
Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license or the ability to obtain one by date of hire
This position may require the ability to obtain AHERA Supervisor certification for asbestos related work and Cal/OSHA Lead training as well as the ability to wear respiratory protection
A Cal/OSHA mandated medical evaluation is required prior to the use of a respirator
May be required to use a motor vehicle to transport and deliver heavy / large items
