Program Manager, Center for Technology, Science, and Energy

The American Enterprise Institute (AEI) seeks a full-time program manager for its Center for Technology, Science, and Energy. The program manager will coordinate the center’s operations, design and execute major initiatives, and support research assistants and scholars in their work on science and technology policy.

Responsibilities

Support the workflows of three research assistants and 17 scholars researching science, energy, and technology policy
Collaborate with the CTSE director to devise, develop, and execute new center initiatives. Coordinate with other departments and teams at AEI as needed, including the Development and Government Relations departments and the communications team
Work with CTSE’s director to plan, coordinate, and manage public events. Support active working groups led by the team’s fellows
Maintain the center’s paper series by recruiting authors, editing drafts, and coordinating timelines with communications teams
Provide research and editorial support to CTSE scholars for blogs, research papers, opinion articles, and congressional testimonies, and manage related products (including website content and promotional materials). Assist in various ad hoc activities, including editing, drafting proposals, interviewing staff, and developing projects
Develop and manage CTSE’s monthly newsletter, the Nexus. Coordinate the editing, scheduling, and posting of daily articles on the technology channel of the AEIdeas blog and their promotion through AEI’s daily Tech Policy Outlook newsletter
Report weekly to the center’s director on internal and external publications, events, Hill engagements, and other activities at meetings, through memos, and in phone calls
Coordinate CTSE policy inputs for daily AEI publications and website features
Support staffing for the science, energy, and technology research assistant positions
Track and measure CTSE scholars’ outputs and impact. Maintain the CTSE.aei.org webpage and CTSE’s X account

Required

A bachelor's degree
2–5 years of experience in research, management, or politics
A general knowledge of Washington, DC; the institutions that shape science, technology, and energy policy; and the policymaking process
A demonstrated interest in civil society and prior experience researching technology, science, or energy policy
The ability to establish and maintain collaborative relationships within and among departments
Excellent writing and editing skills, attention to detail, and organizational skills
Time management skills and a proven ability to meet deadlines
Creativity
Strong initiative
