Education Technology and Instructional Specialist (ETIS)
Spathe Systems is a rapidly growing SOF-led defense contractor headquartered in Tampa, FL, seeking an Education Technology and Instructional Specialist (ETIS) to support the Joint Special Operations University (JSOU) mission. The ETIS will enhance technology-based teaching and learning, manage digital learning tools, and support course development in various formats to ensure effective and accessible educational solutions.
Information Technology
Responsibilities
Design and develop courseware—including videos, podcasts, interactive modules, and other digital content—in collaboration with faculty
Translate instructional goals into effective course structures and advise on integrating technology to support learning outcomes
Format and convert course content into compatible formats (e.g., SCORM, HTML, PDF) optimized for both desktop and mobile platforms
Upload, organize, tag, and publish course materials in the JSOU eCampus system; notify course directors upon release
Review and audit course content for accuracy, usability, accessibility, and formatting; conduct link testing and media playback checks
Support course review preparations, including Education Review Boards (ERBs) and Department Review Boards (DRBs)
Coordinate and manage pilot launches; gather feedback, resolve issues, and implement course revisions
Configure course schedules, enrollment settings, and student rosters; assist with registration and resolve access or login issues
Manage user accounts and roles in the eCampus platform, including creation, updates, deactivation, and permissions oversight
Monitor system performance, apply routine software updates and patches, and coordinate backups with IT support
Report and assist in restoring service outages; identify and resolve system and course-related technical issues
Provide Tier 1 support for users experiencing system, access, or functionality issues; escalate unresolved problems as needed
Maintain secure handling of student and faculty data; archive, back up, or remove content as directed
Implement cybersecurity measures; conduct system audits and risk assessments to ensure compliance and data integrity
Track and analyze course engagement and system usage; generate reports and present findings in accessible visual formats
Facilitate communication between faculty, instructional design, IT, and student services, lead planning and onboarding sessions
Deliver faculty training and support professional development in educational technology tools and systems
Collect and analyze user feedback to inform ongoing platforms and support improvements
Research and recommend emerging technologies that align with JSOU’s instructional goals, design and test pilot programs and upgrades
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in instructional design, educational technology, or a related field OR Four (4) years of experience in instructional design, focusing on content analysis, design, or development
At least 4 + years of experience working with course authoring tools (e.g., Adobe Captivate, Articulate Storyline), Adobe Creative Cloud, and Microsoft Office
Applying the Instructional Systems Design (ISD) model to in-person and distance learning courses
Managing enrollment and attendance records
Using SharePoint and Student Information Management Systems
Supporting military training and education systems
SECRET level clearance is required
