Visiting Assistant Professor in Asian Art History
Washington and Lee University is inviting applications for a one-year, full-time, non-tenure-track position in the history of Asian art and/or architecture. The successful candidate will teach a range of courses and engage in innovative and inclusive undergraduate teaching within a liberal arts context.

Responsibilities
Teach a six-course load over three terms, distributed as two courses in the fall, three in the winter, and one during the four-week spring term
Teach a range of courses at the introductory, intermediate, and advanced levels, including classes in their area of specialization
Foster interdisciplinary and cross-cultural approaches to the study of art and architecture
Qualification
Required
ABD considered, Ph.D. preferred
Demonstrated commitment to innovative and inclusive undergraduate teaching within a liberal arts context
Well-defined area of specialization in the history of Asian art and/or architecture
Ability to teach a range of courses at the introductory, intermediate, and advanced levels
Experience in fostering interdisciplinary and cross-cultural approaches to the study of art and architecture
Past teaching experience, including specific examples of innovative assignments and pedagogical approaches
Research agenda, including current and future projects
Preferred
Specialist in South Asian art and/or architectural history
Engagement with diverse artistic and architectural traditions of South Asia, broadly defined to include the Himalayan region and the Tibetan plateau
