Entry-Level Data Center Technician

Responsibilities

Monitor and maintain data center equipment, including power, cooling, servers, and networking hardware
Assist with racking, cabling, installation, and basic configuration of servers and infrastructure
Perform routine troubleshooting, respond to alerts, and escalate issues to senior team members
Support virtualization environments using Proxmox (e.g., VM management, backups, basic clustering)
Help manage hosting services, including cPanel/WHM for client accounts, domain setup, and basic user support
Conduct basic Linux systems administration tasks (e.g., command-line operations, package management, log review)
Maintain accurate inventory, documentation, and a secure, organized data center environment
Collaborate on preventive maintenance, upgrades, and client-specific colocation or cloud setups
Contribute to 24/7 operations, with potential for on-call duties as you grow in the role

Required

High school diploma or GED required
Entry-level position—no prior professional experience required, but basic familiarity with computers, networking, or IT hardware is advantageous
Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment
Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in a data center setting (e.g., handling equipment in confined spaces)
Excellent communication skills and a collaborative attitude to work effectively with team members and leadership
Must be authorized to work in the United States; background check and drug screening required

Preferred

Associate's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred
Hosting or data center experience (e.g., web hosting, server management) is a plus
Willingness to pursue relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+) with company support
