Building Service Technician 1
Bell County is seeking a Building Service Technician 1 to provide building maintenance through custodial and preventive care. The role involves directing inmate workers, performing repairs, and maintaining the facility according to high standards.

Responsibilities
Direct inmate/client/detainee workers and contractors in proper methods of care and cleaning inside and outside of the facility
Clean and care for the facility as directed
Perform repair tasks, such as carpentry, painting and plumbing
Perform repairs on hand tools, power tools and equipment, and address simple electrical problems
Supervise laundry and maintenance work to ensure assigned duties are completed
Provide input on maintenance budget, both current and future
Maintain records relating to facility care and maintenance
Monitor tool and chemical inventory
Order supplies as necessary
Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor
Maintain compliance with all county policies and procedures
Qualification
Required
HS Diploma or GED required
Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid South Dakota Driver's license within 90 days of moving to South Dakota
Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and quantitative productivity standards
Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state and local standards
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds unassisted
Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively on telephone, in-person and in writing
Must be able to sit, walk, stand, climb, balance and use hands and arms to reach and feel
Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception
Preferred
One year of work experience in building maintenance preferred
