ACCOUNTABLE MANAGER
The NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) enriches the environment and protects public health for all New Yorkers. They are seeking an Accountable Manager for the Water System Capital Program to oversee the planning, design, and construction management of critical infrastructure projects within the NYC drinking water supply watershed.

Responsibilities
Provide support in the management of the upstate projects
Report to a Deputy Portfolio Manager supervising water system projects within the watershed
Be assigned as the accountable manager during the construction phase of specific projects
Plan, coordinate, and direct the implementation of the design and construction of projects in the NYC drinking water supply watershed
Ensure that all prepared schedules, reports, and work products conform to the scope of work
Prepare, negotiate, and process appropriate modifications to Consultant Contract scope, cost, and schedule for successful project completion
Provide day-to-day guidance and oversight of subordinates’ work assignments
Motivate current employees, approve time and leave, evaluate staff members and determine staffing requirements for implementation of the program
Ensure that environmental health & safety is incorporated throughout the project lifecycle
Focus on client service to the operating Bureaus
Implement all project delivery procedures and coordinate with all Bureau support divisions
Manage the quality of the project delivery throughout the project lifecycle
Monitor key performance indicators with respect to scope, schedule, budget, and other project performance metrics
Qualification
Required
A valid New York State License as a Professional Engineer
Six (6) years of full-time satisfactory experience in chemical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, environmental engineering, mechanical engineering, or plan examining work
At least two (2) years of experience in an executive, managerial, or administrative capacity
Preferred
Project Management of large capital contracts
Critical thinking and effective independent data analysis
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Understanding of codes and standards
Possession of a valid NYS driver's license may be required for this job assignment
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel) and Microsoft Project
