Sr. PT/EV Engineer (North America Quality Center - NAQC)

Responsibilities
Investigate and support the testing of PT and EV-related quality issues in Hyundai, Genesis, and Kia vehicles by responding to requests from Hyundai Motor Group, sales affiliates, vehicle assembly plants, and in cases of sudden increases in warranty claims
Lead investigations with involved stakeholders to identify, analyze, replicate, and resolve quality-related issues for powertrain and electric vehicle propulsion systems
Utilize subjective and objective data from field and on-site investigations to analyze and diagnose root causes of PT and EV-related quality issues
Propose and validate solutions pertaining to PT and EV-related quality issues
Benchmark competitive vehicle designs, diagnostic procedures, and technical service bulletins (TSBs) to research differences and enhance NAQC's systems and materials
Identify market trends via customer feedback, external indices (e.g., J.D. Power, Consumer Reports, etc.), customer forums, and automotive syndicated studies
Research, procure, and maintain new technologies, tools, and methods for data acquisition and analysis purposes
Manage schedules and coordinate with outsourced companies to ensure all deliverables are met according to contract requirements
Maintain project schedules by assisting vendors with any arising questions and/or issues
Create and present technical reports as assigned for management to review
Develop/maintain positive relationships with tech experts from the R&D Center and counterpart teams
Collaborate with the appropriate stakeholders (i.e., HMG R&D, suppliers, other quality departments, etc.) to resolve complex, quality-related issues
Mentor junior engineers in PT and EV-related affairs
Travel up to 40% of the time, both domestically and internationally
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, automotive, or a related field of engineering
7+ years of experience working with powertrain and electric vehicle propulsion systems
QA/QC/QI experience
Knowledge of powertrain and electric vehicle propulsion systems, including sub-systems and principles
Knowledge of internal combustion engine mechanical structures, engine control logic, and EV and PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric vehicle) components (e.g., high-voltage battery systems, onboard chargers, motor inverters, etc.)
Root cause analysis skills
Familiarity with vehicle instrumentation and data acquisition tools(e.g., LMS, ETAS INCA, Intrepid VehicleSpy, Vector CAN, and Ethernet Suites)
Experience conducting and leading field and on-site investigations
Familiarity with performing testing, validation, research, and benchmarking activities/tasks concerning powertrain and electric vehicle propulsion systems
Excellent time management, self-management, and organization skills
Strong written, oral, interpersonal, and leadership skills
Ability to explain technical topics to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Valid Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record
