Assistant Corporation Counsel II - Real Estate Division
The City of Chicago Department of Law is seeking an attorney for the position of Assistant Corporation Counsel II in the Real Estate and Land Use Division. This role involves advising city departments on zoning and land use issues, assisting with real estate transactions, and representing various boards and commissions related to real estate matters.
Law Practice
Responsibilities
Advising city departments and city council on zoning and land use issues
Assisting client departments with all types of real estate transactions
Implementing the Affordable Requirements Ordinance
Drafting leases (as landlord and tenant)
Representing the Zoning Board of Appeals and Commission on Chicago Landmarks
Collaborating with the Chicago Park District, Chicago Transit Authority and other independent city agencies
Handling a broad range of real estate transactional matters
Qualification
Required
a minimum of 2 years of experience in real estate transactional matters
superior research, legal analysis and writing skills
superior interpersonal and communication skills
strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational, problem solving, and teamwork skills
the ability to take ownership of and complete tasks without direct supervision
the ability to organize, prioritize, monitor, and control workflow deadlines and handle multiple assignments simultaneously
a commitment to public service and a strong interest in government
Graduation from an American Bar Association accredited law school with a Juris Doctor degree
Admission to the Illinois Bar (or eligible for admission on motion to the Illinois Bar pursuant to Illinois Supreme Court Rule 705), good standing with your state Attorney Registration & Disciplinary Commission
