Copper Cable Splicer
Centerline is a company that designs, builds, and maintains critical infrastructure across North America. They are seeking a Copper Cable Splicer who will operate independently and with a team to install, splice, and troubleshoot copper cables while traveling throughout the New England region.

Responsibilities
Proper installation of various closures on copper cables
Splicing of copper cable using various tools, in an aerial, buried, or office environment
Testing and troubleshooting copper
Repair and maintenance of copper cables
Understand staking sheets and blueprints
Making necessary preparations required for splicing, rearranging, and terminating cable conductors. Performing splicing operations relating to the installation, rearrangement, and repair of outside plant facilities. This includes copper cable, wire, terminals, loop carrier electronics
Locating and clearing troubles in outside plant facilities
Determine air flow and pressure in cables – aerial and underground. Preparing cables for pressurization and maintaining cable pressure
Works aloft; climbs ladders and poles; enters tunnels, buildings, trenches, crawl spaces, manholes, and other confined spaces to accomplish job tasks
May work outdoors in all weather conditions
Tests and adjusts complex equipment using testing devices, e.g., signal generators, oscilloscopes, transmission measuring sets, volt-ohm-millimeters, etc
Testing, locating, and repairing defects in wires for copper cables and digital carrier systems, using electrical and mechanical testing apparatus
Will need to be able to travel both within and out of state as required or as work ebbs and flows
Performing additional duties and tasks as required by the Company
Qualification
Required
At least two years of experience in splicing, troubleshooting, repairing, and testing fiber optic and copper cable
Four years of experience in the installation and/or repair of fiber-optic cable and other related telecommunications equipment
Ability to distinguish the difference between colors
Industry-recognized certification in splicing and testing copper and fiber optic cable
Local and overnight travel in Maine should be expected due to the size of the state; would include hotel and per diem allowance
High School Degree
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Fine motor skills and visual acuity is required for success
May need to respond under stressful or urgent situations
Awareness of all Safety regulations for Line Companies; knowledge of all Utility, N.E.S.C., DOT and OSHA Safety Rules
