Associate Designer, Consumer Strategy & Growth
The Atlantic is a historic publication known for its impactful journalism and is seeking a junior designer for their Consumer Strategy & Growth team. This role involves designing promotions to engage readers and convert prospective subscribers while collaborating closely with various teams to uphold the brand's quality.

Responsibilities
Design and produce assets for a wide range of promotions including paid marketing (Facebook, Instagram, Reddit), email, onsite ads, print materials, and more
Use data and insights to make strategic design decisions for campaigns and assets targeted broadly to prospects, actives, and expired/canceled subscribers and more granularly to smaller specific audiences
Collaborate with copywriters to conceptualize, present, and produce creative directions that unite copy and design
Inspire confidence and enthusiasm in stakeholders by articulating your design thinking and connecting your decisions to strategic goals and audience insights
Act as your own project manager: organize your tasks across multiple projects; keep track of deadlines; create and maintain documentation
Qualification
Required
Strong visual design skills with attention to detail and understanding of design principles, layout, typography, grid, and color
Fluency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite and Figma
Motion design skills are a strong plus
Love of research: digging deep into a brand's history and visual identity, studying and compiling landscape analysis
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects at once and meet deadlines
Excellent communication skills: can brainstorm with a group, articulate and present ideas, and clarify feedback from colleagues
Openness to feedback and the ability to apply it to future work
A finger on the pulse of marketing and media trends, along with art, culture, and the zeitgeist
Passion for the future of high-quality, independent journalism
1+ years professional experience. Background in advertising, marketing, agency, design studio, or subscription-based company is preferred
