Director, Global Talent Development

The Clinton Health Access Initiative, Inc. (CHAI) is a global health organization committed to saving lives and reducing the burden of disease in low-and middle-income countries. The Director of Global Talent Management will lead the transformation of talent systems across the organization, focusing on compensation, performance enablement, and learning and development to ensure equity and effectiveness in managing 1,700+ staff across 40+ countries.

Responsibilities

Lead a comprehensive overhaul of CHAI's compensation framework and job architecture — updating these interconnected systems are the top priority for CHAI in 2026
Oversee the redesign of compensation structures to reflect current market realities, organizational values, and our commitment to equity across 40+ countries, working with a dedicated compensation team member and external consultants
Lead the RFP process to select and manage external consulting partners who will support the technical compensation design work
Guide the development of equitable salary bands and transparent compensation philosophy, building on foundational work
Direct the update of career frameworks with transparent levelling, competencies, and progression pathways
Ensure job families and levels support equitable hiring, promotion, and development decisions across diverse markets
Oversee the development of frameworks for merit increases, promotions, and equity adjustments
Lead implementation of new job architecture and compensation frameworks across the organization, including designing and executing a comprehensive change management strategy to drive understanding and adoption and building stakeholder buy-in across all levels of the organization
Develop and execute a comprehensive L&D strategy with emphasis on manager training and performance enablement tools
Design scalable learning pathways that work across different roles, levels, and geographies
Create measurement frameworks to track learning impact and ensure training drives performance improvements
Balance building internal capability with strategic use of external partners when appropriate
Develop and implement CHAI's first ever performance management system, building on initial frameworks to create a comprehensive approach
Drive organization-wide adoption of performance enablement practices through targeted change management, including development of communication strategies that build understanding and buy-in across all levels
Design systems that work across diverse country contexts while maintaining consistency and supporting our culture of innovation and calculated risk-taking
Serve as a trusted advisor and key member of the HR leadership team
Build buy-in and drive adoption of new systems through strong indirect influence with CHAI’s leadership teams and other key stakeholders across a historically decentralized organization
Partner closely with HR Business Partners to ensure regional and functional leaders can effectively implement and sustain talent initiatives
Translate performance and talent insights into strategic talent decisions, including talent reviews, succession planning, and workforce planning that become increasingly sophisticated as performance enablement systems mature
Champion equity, transparency, and fairness in all talent decisions
Develop and manage relationships with external vendors and consultants as needed

Required

Bachelors degree plus 10+ years of progressive human resources experience, with at least 5 years in senior talent management roles
Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing abilities, including working through indirect influence to drive change across matrixed organizations
Strategic mindset combined with willingness to execute hands-on work — this is a 'roll up your sleeves' role
Experience in compensation philosophy, salary structure design, and global pay equity, including experience leading implementation of new frameworks and managing organizational transitions
Experience developing and implementing performance management systems, ideally in organizations of 1,000+ employees
Experience managing external consultants and vendors, including RFP processes and consultant partnerships
Multi-country experience is essential—experience working across diverse international contexts with understanding of how to balance global consistency with local requirements (US-only experience is insufficient for this role)
Strong project management skills with ability to manage multiple complex initiatives simultaneously
Excellent analytical skills and comfort with data-driven decision-making
Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, with ability to tailor messaging for diverse audiences

Preferred

Experience leading HR transformation initiatives in decentralized organizations
Background in international development, non-profit, global health, or mission-driven sectors
Deep experience with change management methodologies and frameworks
Comfort working in lean, resource-constrained environments where you build systems from the ground up
Consulting experience or exposure to HR best practices across multiple organizations
Fluency in additional languages beyond English
Master's degree in HR, Organizational Development, Business, or related field
