Responsibilities
Apply basic to intermediate knowledge of software architecture to perform software development tasks associated with developing, debugging or designing software applications or operating systems according to provided design specifications
Build enhancements within an existing software architecture and occasionally suggest improvements to the architecture
Drive technical collaboration between teams
Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers in the team
Architect and execute on highly visible and mission critical projects
Be a rock-solid coder and a distributed systems generalist
Dive deep into any part of the stack as well as design broad distributed system interactions
Qualification
Required
BS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area
6+ years of software engineering or related experience
Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design, data structures, & algorithm design, etc
6+ years of total experience with software development/ programming experience with at least one object oriented coding language such as Java, C++, C#, Go, etc
Systematic problem-solving approach, strong communication skills, a sense of ownership, and drive
Experienced in building highly-available and scalable distributed services
Experienced with microservice design patterns
Exhibits behaviors consistent with OCI values
Be a leader and mentor to other developers, promoting best practices and collaboration
Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and adapt to changing project requirements
Attention to Detail: Keen attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality software solutions
A Principal Engineer should have strong technical judgment and influential skills to facilitate discussions for business-critical designs

Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
