Responsibilities
Perform preventative maintenance on diesel tractors, trailers, and trailer refrigeration units
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair equipment problems
Answer drivers’ telephone request for assistance with equipment failure while out on the road
Maintain and repair all equipment (tractors, trailers, trailer refrigeration units, converter gears) to include engines, starting and charging, cooling, electrical, body, wheels, brakes, and suspension
Follow all company procedures and ensure a safe work environment
Responsible for performing all job duties with honesty and integrity
Qualification
Required
Prior experience as a Diesel Mechanic or combination of formal/technical education and directly related experience
Experience in electronic diagnostics and welding
Experience in engine diagnostics specifically as relates to heavy equipment
Experience in welding of suspension systems as relates to heavy equipment
Must be 18 years of age or older, with a valid driver's license
Must supply own tools up to 1 ¼” size with the proper toolbox, including pneumatic tools
Ability to reach, lift and work objects weighing up to 100 lbs. Ability to push and pull heavy equipment
Manual dexterity, overall coordination, and good balance to work both at ground level and high places
Ability to stand, walk and work in close quarters, prone and awkward positions for lengthy periods occasionally
Mental alertness and good vision are necessary to ensure safe and accurate completion of work activities
Exposure to hazards exists with respect to equipment, work areas, tools welding equipment, presses and other power equipment
Must be able to work full-time
