Manufacturing Engineering Intern

Genus PLC is an agricultural biotechnology pioneer seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Intern to gain hands-on experience in process improvement and engineering projects. The intern will work alongside experienced engineers to support process analysis, documentation, and improvement initiatives while contributing to meaningful projects.

Responsibilities

Get hands-on experience by documenting and analyzing current manufacturing processes to identify improvement opportunities
Collaborate with engineers and production teams to implement small-scale process changes and learn how real-world manufacturing works
Support the development of standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and process documentation
Collect and organize production data for analysis and reporting—your insights will help drive efficiency
Assist in preparing engineering drawings and specifications under supervision
Participate in continuous improvement projects using Lean principles and basic problem-solving tools
Contribute to safety and quality initiatives within the manufacturing environment
Follow all safety protocols and promote a safe working environment
Uphold the Genus core values, mission and vision
Position may require work responsibilities outside of normal business hours
Performs other projects and responsibilities as assigned

Required

Education: Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field
Year of experience: No prior experience required; coursework or projects in manufacturing or process improvement preferred
Valid driver's license
Available for 12 weeks during the summer
Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship

Preferred

Familiarity with Lean or Six Sigma principles
Experience with CAD software or basic engineering drawings
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Strong analytical and communication skills
