Responsibilities

Assist in the representation of USAID in federal and administrative litigation arising under the Contract Disputes Act, the Administrative Procedure Act, the False Claims Act, the Freedom of Information Act, and the Federal Tort Claims Act, among others

Review case materials, investigate facts, and draft pleadings, motions, and briefs

Provide legal counsel on litigation strategy, risk assessment, and potential courses of action

Analyze legislative, regulatory, and judicial developments affecting Agency programs

Coordinate with paralegals, junior attorneys, and other attorneys to prepare case documents and research

Verify legal citations and references, ensuring accuracy and compliance with procedural requirements

Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including interagency partners

Perform other legal duties as assigned to support litigation and Agency objectives

Required

Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and admitted to a state bar in good standing; eight (8)+ years of relevant litigation experience

Proficiency in Google Applications and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment and manage multiple priorities

Strong interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with senior officials and stakeholders

Conduct legal research and analysis to support litigation strategy, case development, and informed decision-making

Manage litigation matters and case-related tasks effectively, ensuring organization, accuracy, and timely execution

Communicate complex legal issues clearly and professionally through strong written work and oral presentations

Collaborate effectively with attorneys, clients, and stakeholders while managing multiple priorities in a team-oriented environment

Work collaboratively with attorneys, staff, and stakeholders to support case objectives and deliver high-quality legal work in a team-oriented environment
