IT Services Technician I - Radio

Government Administration

Responsibilities

Perform skilled preventive maintenance and repairs on the County’s advanced digital communications systems, including the 700/800 MHz Motorola P25 simulcast subsystem of the Michigan Public Safety Communications System (MPSCS) and the 420 MHz MotoTrbo radio communications network
Support and maintain pager and fire hall alerting systems used by public safety professionals across the County
Attend specialized training sessions to deepen your expertise in digital radio system repair, maintenance, and emerging technologies
Stay current on system software used by the unit and assess opportunities for upgrades or enhancements

Required

Must be a high school graduate or have a certificate of successful completion of the General Education Development (G.E.D.) Test
Have had at least three (3) years of full-time work experience in the installation, configuration, diagnostics, maintenance and repair of radio systems and components; OR
Possess an Associate's degree or equivalent education from an accredited college or university with major in Physics, Electronics Technology, Electronic Engineering Technology, or a closely related area
Have had at least one (1) year of full-time professional work in the installation, configuration, diagnostics, maintenance and repair of radio systems and components
Possess a valid motor vehicle operator's or chauffeurs license
Must maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's or chauffeur's license
Must pass a background check performed by the County or other appropriate agencies as required
