Start in 2026 SummerWilliam Charles Construction, part of MasTec’s Clean Energy and Infrastructure Group, is seeking Construction Field Engineer Interns for Summer 2026 to support their Springfield, IL office. The role involves assisting the Project Manager and Construction Manager with project-specific quality plans, material inventory, and various administrative tasks related to construction projects.

Responsibilities
Performs field survey work regarding layout and tracking of work activities, utilizing PC based software and GPS station/field equipment
Assist with managing project specific quality control records and ensuring that required reporting is accomplished
Assist with planning, scheduling, and coordinating to ensure that all required audits/inspections are performed and documented
Assist with material inventory and receiving paperwork
Assist with final job closeout, as-builts, job binder creation
Assist with subcontractor scheduling and management
Assist with RFI (Request for Information) submittals
Extended work hours and weekend work may be required
Will provide other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Currently pursuing undergraduate, four-year degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
Other applicable degrees include: Electrical/Mechanical Engineering
Comfortable with exposure to dirt, heat and noise
100% Project Specific travel is required
Minimum GPA of 3.0
24 hours of college credits completed
Have a basic understanding of the construction industry and accepted business practices
Strong work ethic
Ability to work within a team
