Responsibilities
Design and prototype mechanical and electromechanical systems for the ocean environment
Use SolidWorks to develop high-quality CAD models and detailed fabrication drawings
Build and test prototypes in our lab and at field sites (including ocean testing!)
Work closely with electrical and software engineers to integrate complete systems
Analyze data, validate designs, and iterate quickly to improve performance
Present results through concise reports, presentations, and design reviews
Qualification
Required
B.S. in Mechanical, Ocean, or Robotics Engineering (or similar)
1–5 years of hands-on engineering experience (internships or co-ops count!)
Proficiency in SolidWorks and mechanical design fundamentals
Curiosity, initiative, and a passion for learning by building and testing
Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-first mindset
Must be US Citizens and may be subject to a security investigation
Preferred
Experience designing for subsea or marine environments
Familiarity with hydraulics, winches, pressure vessels, or ROVs
Comfort working in a machine shop or lab environment
Knowledge of GD&T, tolerance stack-up, or design for manufacturability
Exposure to DoD or Navy R&D programs
