They are seeking a self-motivated individual to join their team as a Commercial Lines Underwriter Trainee, where the individual will learn to underwrite risk and develop relationships with agents and insureds within the assigned territory.

Responsibilities

Train to underwrite risk that determines the selection/rejection of new and renewal commercial business

Gain an understanding of the underwriting thought process and learn to utilize underwriting guidelines, procedures, rating manual rules and insurance laws/regulations

Learn the skills required to develop and maintain strong relationships with agents and insureds within assigned territory

Participate in an extensive training program involving instruction and self-study combined with on-the-job shadowing that will provide the opportunity to learn the business

Evaluate existing and new accounts and make underwriting recommendations within limited authority on assignments of moderate technical complexity
