The Field Engineer will manage field inspections for roadway and bridge projects, prepare estimates, and ensure compliance with project specifications.

Responsibilities

Help manage the field inspection of roadway and bridge transportation projects

Prepare and submit progress and final estimates

Check engineering calculations

Interpret contract documents

Draft engineering solutions in MicroStation for contractors and owners

Oversee contractors to ensure projects are built within reasonable plan and specification conformity

Qualification

Required

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university

Minimum of 4 years of experience with major road or bridge construction

Licensed Professional Engineer in Texas or the ability to obtain within 6 months

Must obtain any required certifications and pass appropriate qualifications tests for the position in specified time frames

Good verbal and written communication skills required

Valid Driver's License with a good driving record

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office

Ability to sit, stand, climb, bend, twist, or stoop frequently and for prolonged periods

Ability to reach horizontally as well as vertically for required tasks

Ability to use construction or inspection safety equipment including fall protection

Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

Preferred

1 - 3 years of hands-on experience using CADD software, preferably MicroStation, and experience with Highway Design and Work Zone Traffic Control Plans

Experience with Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, CMGC, and other alternative contract delivery methods

OSHA 10 hour
