Combustion Turbine Plant Engineering Intern
North Carolina's Electric Cooperatives is one of the largest generation and transmission cooperatives in the nation, supplying power to most of the state's member cooperatives. They are seeking a Combustion Turbine Plant Engineering Intern who will work with Plant Engineering and Management to support plant projects and develop Standard Operating Procedures.

Responsibilities
Understand and apply electrical controls and mechanical engineering principles to support combustion turbine plant operations and maintenance
Monitor, analyze, and recommend changes to operating and maintenance trends, procedures, and functions that affect reliability, safety, compliance, and cost effectiveness
Establish and maintain close working relationships with plant operating, engineering, and contract personnel
Maintain a routine flow of information concerning project schedules, annual work plans, plant status, progress and potential problems to the Plant Management and Director of Asset Management
Apply technical problem-solving skills to recommend improvements to existing processes
Assist with the analysis of data
Communicating research and results to management through reports and development of presentations
Qualification
Required
Pursuing an Engineering degree with a desire to problem solve
Ideally, the student should be entering their Junior or Senior level course work
Experience with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Able to work in either a normal office or outdoor conditions
Perform well both individually and within a team
Able to be responsible for a project from start to finish
Experience troubleshooting problems and completing projects
A basic knowledge of mechanical and electrical engineering principles is desirable
Should have the ability to work well with both internal and external contacts
Should be self-motivated and have the ability to undertake major projects with supervision
Flexibility is valued due to the variety of projects to which the successful candidate will be assigned
Strong teamwork, responsiveness, and communication skills are required
Must be able to work with Plant Staff and with other departments to meet project timelines
