North Carolina's Electric Cooperatives is seeking a Cybersecurity Intern to assist with cybersecurity tooling and assessments. The intern will learn to respond to alerts, conduct assessments, and make recommendations to enhance the cybersecurity program.

Responsibilities

Meet with Lumbee River EMC to discuss project assignments, milestones, and deadlines

Work under the supervision of Lumbee River EMC staff member to complete project assignments

Apply technical problem-solving cybersecurity skills to recommend and implement improvements to existing processes

Responsible for making pro-active recommendations to any current cybersecurity environment

Communicating research and results to management through reports and development of presentations

Qualification

Cybersecurity knowledgeComputer Science programTechnical problem-solvingTeam collaborationPresentation skills

Required

Actively enrolled in a Cybersecurity or approved Computer Science Degree program with an emphasis on Cybersecurity

Enrollment in an accredited university

A general understanding of computer hardware and software and the importance of securing information within business systems

A strong desire to expand knowledge and understanding around all things related to a formal cybersecurity program

A natural desire to be proactive when recognizing security gaps

A desire to work with a team

Preferred

Experience contributing as a team member is desirable
