Responsibilities
Underwriting commercial insurance risks: reviewing, analyzing, accepting, and declining risks to ensure profitability for Kinsale
Communicating with management on individual accounts, current and proposed producers, and recommendations concerning operations, systems, and procedures when appropriate
Underwriting and selecting new business that will produce an underwriting profit
Reviewing submissions to identify exposure/risk and determine accurate classifications, rates, and premium charges
Monitoring producers for profitability and production
Marketing products to producers by coordinating marketing plan with various stakeholders in and outside Underwriting
Developing forms and coverages in partnership with others, as applicable
Qualification
Required
Excellent oral and written communications skills
PC literacy, with emphasis on Outlook, Word, and Excel
Strong analytical and organizational skills
A team-oriented, entrepreneurial spirit, seeking a flexible, spontaneous business environment
Professional experience demonstrating foundational decision-making, analytical, quantitative, and interpersonal skills, as well as room for growth
Preferred
A Bachelor's degree, especially in business, economics, risk management, STEM or related field
Advanced Excel skills, including comfort with V-Lookup and PivotTable functions
Strong negotiation skills
Ability to maintain precision while moving quickly through workload
