Patient Service Representative - Watson Primary Care
Esse Health is the largest independent physician practice in the St. Louis Metropolitan area, serving nearly 130,000 patients. They are currently seeking a full-time Patient Service Representative for their Watson Primary Care office, responsible for check-out duties and various patient service functions such as scheduling appointments and verifying insurance.

Responsibilities
Cover check-out duties for the office
Float to cover a variety of functions
Answering the telephones
Scheduling patient appointments
Checking patients in
Collecting co-payments
Verifying insurance
Registering patients in the computer
Scanning
Faxing
Processing referrals and prior authorizations
Project a positive office image at all times including smiling, greeting patients with enthusiasm, and maintaining an upbeat, positive attitude in all interactions with patients and coworkers
Qualification
Required
Formal training which will probably be indicated by a high school diploma or equivalent
1 or more years of experience working with the public, preferably in a healthcare setting
Knowledge of medical terminology
Knowledge of the different types of health insurance plans; i.e. HMO's, PPO's, etc
Ability to recognize priority or emergency phone calls
Ability to communicate effectively with patients, both on the telephone and in person, including patients who are angry or upset
Ability to perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
Ability to sit at a desk and answer the telephone/perform data entry up to 8 hours a day
Proficient with Windows-based PC environment
