The Occupational Health and Industrial Hygiene Intern will support workforce health and risk management systems by contributing to the development and implementation of programs that promote a safe and healthy work environment.

Responsibilities
Perform routine care, maintenance, and calibration of exposure monitoring equipment to ensure accurate and reliable data collection
Conduct occupational exposure monitoring activities using scientifically established industrial hygiene methods
South32 procedures, and regulatory requirements
Review and analyze using appropriate mathematical and statistical methods exposure monitoring data to assess risks, identify trends, and support corrective actions
Prepare clear and concise reports summarizing exposure monitoring results and recommendations for risk mitigation
Collaborate with health and safety professionals to support continuous improvement of occupational health and industrial hygiene programs
Qualification
Required
Enrolled in a graduate program in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health Science, Occupational Health, or a closely related field
May consider highly qualified undergraduates in an industrial hygiene relevant undergraduate program
Foundational knowledge of industrial hygiene principles, occupational health practices, risk management, and environmental health standards
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret exposure monitoring data and contribute to risk assessments
Effective written and verbal communication skills for reporting and collaboration with cross-functional teams
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic, safety-focused environment
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Commitment to workplace safety, confidentiality, and ethical standards
Preferred
Familiarity with exposure monitoring equipment and basic understanding of calibration and maintenance procedures
Experience with data analysis tools
