Bindery Operator - Foresight Group/ULitho

Foresight Group, a subsidiary of Michigan State University Federal Credit Union, specializes in commercial printing and related services. They are seeking a Bindery Operator to operate various binding machines, ensure product quality, and maintain equipment while working in a team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

Operate machines such as guillotine cutter and saddle stitcher
Acquire the job folder and review it for the specifications or special instructions that may impact the operation or setting up of the machine or equipment
Follow routine procedures in the setting up and in the operation of the machine or equipment
Review the quality of the product continuously to meet the standard that is required
Maintain the required records with quantities, quality, and any other required information
Cross-train and learn the lines of associate equipment
Assist in the training of employees new to the specific lines
Maintain both the bindery equipment and immediate area
Report unusual conditions or circumstances to the supervisor or the person in charge
Work on job assignments in other manufacturing areas as needed
Comply with all OSHA safety requirements

Required

High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required
Mechanical skills
Communication skills
Use of measuring devices
Record data
General computer usage to prepare delivery slips, carton labels and log into software for job costing and time tracking
Use of manual and battery powered pallet jack
Attention to detail is a must!
Operate machines such as guillotine cutter and saddle stitcher

May be required to remain in a stationary position for an extended period
Comfort performing tedious tasks – able to perform repetitive tasks for long periods of time
Requires ability to stand for extended periods, handle paper, reach forward, bend and lift boxes or cartons that can weigh up to 50 pounds
Exposure to potentially hazardous conditions

Preferred

Trade School or Co-op experience in a related field highly preferred
1-3 years of Bindery Operator experience preferred
Extensive experience is not necessary; we are willing to train the right person
Experience in construction or a skilled trade is helpful but not required
