Responsibilities

Ensures Mud Bay facilities are maintained proactively, catching issues early and often. Use maintenance checklists, prioritize time in facilities, and solicit input from staff to assess needs
Utilizes Mud Bay’s ticketing system to track work orders, stay in touch with stakeholders, and keep accurate records of work
Maintains detailed records of maintenance needs and work performed. Schedules work and prioritize time on an ongoing basis. Keeps workspace, vehicle, tools and materials organized and accessible
Accomplishes a variety of tasks including but not limited to finish work, appliance repair, hardware installation, drywall repair, painting, minor plumbing and electrical, etc
Hires and coordinates outside service providers for repairs and maintenance when appropriate. When appropriate, it seeks multiple bids in order to optimize quality and cost
Proactively reaches out to teammates, collaborators and Store Muddies to share information. Communicates in a timely, respectful, and clear manner
Shares on-call responsibility on a rotating basis to ensure facilities emergencies are resolved and Muddies are supported
Maintains a safe working environment for self and fellow Muddies. Models' safe behavior and best practices, slows down assess and plan before acting
Safely operates a vehicle for extended periods to travel between locations across a wide geographic area
Loads, transport, and unloads tools, equipment, and materials
Frequently moves between workstations, mechanical areas, and service spaces within facilities
Navigates tight, cluttered, or confined areas to access equipment, fixtures, and building systems
Regularly lifts, carries, and moves tools, materials, equipment, and supplies weighing up to 50 lbs
Occasionally lifts heavier items with appropriate assistance or equipment
Stands and walks for extended periods while conducting inspections, troubleshooting, and performing repairs
Use step stools and ladders to reach elevated areas for tasks such as painting, hardware installation, or accessing building systems
Bends, stoops, kneels, and reaches to perform repair and maintenance tasks
Uses hand tools, power tools, and small parts requiring fine motor skills and hand–eye coordination
Push and pull tools, carts, equipment, and materials as needed
Works both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
May work in dusty, noisy, or limited-ventilation areas such as storage spaces or mechanical rooms
Use visual acuity to read work orders, inspect materials, and perform precise tasks
Use hearing ability to communicate effectively, listen for mechanical irregularities, and respond to alarms or equipment sounds

Required

Experience performing general facilities maintenance, including tasks such as painting, drywall repair, minor plumbing, minor electrical work, hardware installation, and finish work
Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot maintenance issues across multiple trades
Experience using hand tools, power tools, and related equipment safely and effectively
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage schedules, prioritize tasks, and maintain accurate records
Experience using work order or ticketing systems to track tasks and communicate with stakeholders
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing a dynamic workload
Strong communication skills, with the ability to provide clear, timely, and respectful updates to coworkers and store teams
Ability to collaborate with third-party vendors, evaluate bids, and oversee outside service providers
Valid driver's license and ability to drive daily across a wide geographic area
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks associated with maintenance work
Commitment to safety practices and ability to assess situations and plans before acting
Reliability and availability to participate in a rotating on-call schedule
High school diploma or equivalent (or equivalent experience)

Preferred

Familiarity with retail or multi-site environments (preferred but not required)
Certifications or specialized training in trades (e.g., electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry) are a plus but not required
