Utility Locate Technician
Lake Superior Consulting is growing and seeking Utility Locators to join their team. The role involves responding to locate requests, marking utilities, and ensuring safety and compliance in fieldwork.

Responsibilities
Respond to locate requests within legal time limit
Mark found utilities using proper coloring system (APWA marking standards)
Read and interpret utility maps/prints to identify the size and type of underground utility
Complete required paperwork for locates and line crossings/excavations
Work safely by adhering to LSC and client guidelines and procedures
Communicate work scopes and responsibilities amongst project specific field-based teams
Complete and maintain operator qualifications (OQs)
Operate and use electronic locating equipment
Gather data, prepare records and reports in a timely manner
Perform daily safety meetings and submit daily report documentations
Generate and gather equipment for kickoffs of projects
Ensure your work is utilized with respect to company goals
Document and report any incidents, near misses, and opportunities for improvement
Work in compliance with all technical procedures and guidelines
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma required
Able and willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, and snow. Previous outdoor experience is a plus
Physical stamina to walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs. in challenging environments
Available to work overtime and weekends as needed, handling the physical demands of extended hours
Availability to participate in on-call rotation
Valid driver's license is required and a safe driving record
Capability to operate a company vehicle and use general hand/power tools
Comfortable working in confined spaces
Able to distinguish between colors used to identify wiring and mark underground utilities
Must have strong critical thinking, organizational, problem solving, and troubleshooting abilities
Strong communication skills (verbal and written) to interact clearly with colleagues, customers, contractors, and homeowners
Commitment to working safely and producing high quality, ethical service
Comfortable with Microsoft Office programs
Be available for on-call rotation
Preferred
Prior utility locating experience is a plus, but we are willing to train
