Senior Commercial Claims & Litigation Specialist

Responsibilities
Conducts investigations, evaluates and makes recommendations regarding coverage, liability, and resolution strategies
Selects, engages, and collaborates with defense counsel in the handling of lawsuits
Manages litigation expenses and ensures that defense counsel adheres to ERIE's billing guidelines
Complies with and directs defense counsels' utilization of Outside Counsel Guidelines
Responds to claim complaints and inquiries
Trains and mentors
Documents claim files
Qualification
Required
The successful candidate will have a minimum of 3-5 years of experience handling Commercial General Liability claims
The successful candidate will ideally reside in the state of Illinois, Wisconsin or Indiana
The successful candidate will handle commercial litigation matters within the Illinois, Wisconsin or Indiana portion of the West region and throughout the West region as the business need requires
This a remote work from home position
The successful candidate must be willing to travel when required for claim investigation and litigation proceedings such as attending mediations and trials
The successful candidate will have the licenses required for KY at the time of hire or within 45 days if external and 90 days if an internal hire. Other state license requirements to be secured as the business need arises
Bachelor's degree and 6 years of claim handling or related experience required, or
Associate degree and 8 years of claim handling or related experience required; or
High school diploma or GED and 10 years of claim handling or related experience required
Strong knowledge and experience in tort/contract law and complex/high exposure commercial claims handling required
Appropriate license as required by state
Valid driver's license and good driving record required
Preferred
Litigation claim handling experience preferred
Completion of Associate in Claims (AIC), Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Senior Claim's Law Associate (SCLA), or Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designations preferred
