Sr. Optical Network Engineer
Altice USA is a leader in the fast-paced world of connectivity, seeking a Sr. Optical Network Engineer to enhance their Optical Transport Network. This role involves planning, architecting, and supporting reliable optical solutions for various products, as well as troubleshooting and maintaining transport equipment.

Responsibilities
The primary responsibility is planning, architect and then supports reliable optical solutions for products and offerings
Perform tasks of high complexity relating to the installation, maintenance, service/troubleshooting (problem analysis) of all transport equipment (SONET, digital, DWDM, analog, and telephony) including but not limited to fiber equipment, MUX/DEMUX, and status monitoring equipment
Follow the lead of the Network Transport Regional Manager in conjunction with the Director
Be pro-active in their work and offer suggestions in completing it as well as recommending additional solutions, efficiencies and or observations
Assist with other engineers & plan and oversee transport installations; circuit creations, systems documentation, upgrades and maintain network hardware as well as network operating systems for the various transport systems
Respond to, investigate, diagnose, rectify, and document issues as required, based on provided information from systems and associates
Use various network and server tools to isolate and rectify issues as need be
Responsible for a collective skill and responsibility set as it applies to the overall network transport infrastructure, and they are considered experts in their responsibilities
Engineer and maintain high level network protocols and configurations
Provide for procedural, informational and training documentation
Work with Corporate Engineering, develop design criteria for testing of new technologies coordinating with all Engineering, operations and management necessary to meet deadlines for product offerings
Respond to, diagnose, and resolve technical issues in relation to the Internet delivery systems, Voice over IP, Interactive Optimum and Commercial/Lightpath services
Qualification
Required
Bachelor or Master's degree in engineering or related field, or related technical experience/certification
6+ years service provider technical experience
Expert level knowledge in Service Provider and Enterprise network infrastructure
Expert level knowledge in Network design, architecture, security, protocols, and topology
Ability to produce detailed Visio and/or Powerpoint presentations
Strong understanding of transport hardware and software (Infinera, Nokia, Cisco)
Strong understanding of networking technologies (Ethernet 100,1000M; Serial T1, DS1, DS3; also copper and fiber technologies)
Strong level understanding of CWDM and DWDM transport
Previous 6 years' experience on multiple hardware platforms and operating systems, (Infinera, Nokia, & Cisco)
Knowledge of network and system management software (DNA, NFM-T, Cisco Prime/CTC)
Experience with handheld test tools (CAT5, Fiber and Fiber scopes, OTDR, T-bird 1gig, 10Gig, 100Gig & 400Gig testers and Optical Spectrum Analyzers)
Strong knowledge of Windows based operating systems, and Microsoft Office applications
Degree in Computer Science, engineering, or equivalent work experience is required
Must have flexible schedule for 24/7 environment and a clean valid DL
