Responsibilities
National Site Documentation: Travel extensively throughout the U.S. (including occasional trips to Canada and Puerto Rico) to perform comprehensive architectural site surveys
Technical Building Forensics: Utilize deep knowledge of building systems to identify structural, MEP, or jurisdictional issues on-site before they impact the design phase
As-Built Production: Translate field measurements and site data into precise, foundational AutoCAD background sets
Night Operations: Conduct surveys during "off-hours" or overnight shifts to accommodate retail clients and active shop environments
Travel Strategy: Manage a flexible schedule that often includes frequent "quick trips" (fly in/out within 24–48 hours)
Qualification
Required
10–15 years of experience in commercial or retail architecture, specifically focused on field documentation and site investigative services
Expert proficiency in AutoCAD is essential; you must be able to produce your own technical drawing sets
Deep understanding of building anatomy, often gained through architectural licensure or significant contractor/field experience
A self-motivated professional who thrives on the logistics of national travel and independent work
