Electrical & Instrument Technician (KUR)

They are seeking an Electrical & Instrument Technician to support site safety and quality initiatives, troubleshoot and maintain control systems, and ensure compliance with safety standards.

Responsibilities

Support site safety, quality, and environmental initiatives by actively participating in safety teams, corrective action reviews, and continuous improvement efforts
Plan, layout, install, troubleshoot, and repair electrical wiring, conduit, control equipment, and instrumentation systems in accordance with diagrams, blueprints, and plant standards
Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), and associated automation and control systems
Interpret and update electrical and instrumentation drawings, blueprints, and schematics to reflect field changes and process improvements
Test, calibrate, and maintain a wide range of process instrumentation, including pressure, temperature, flow, and level transmitters and switches
Adjust, repair, and replace electrical, electronic, and pneumatic instruments, relays, and control components as needed
Complete preventive maintenance and calibration documentation accurately and maintain current records in the control database
Provide ongoing technical support to production and maintenance personnel related to process control systems and instrumentation
Serve as first-call support for process control issues; collaborate with operations, maintenance, and engineering to resolve control-related problems
Interface with engineering and operations teams to support process design, improvement projects, and control system modifications
Ensure compliance with all company procedures, GMP, housekeeping, safety, and environmental standards
Install, connect, and test electrical power and control circuits, panels, relays, switches, and protective devices using appropriate tools and testing equipment
Verify circuit continuity and ensure the electrical compatibility and safety of components using instruments such as ohmmeters, multimeters, and oscilloscopes
Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in safe and proper working order
Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow all safety rules and practices to maintain a strong safety culture
Perform other duties and special projects as assigned

Required

High School Diploma or equivalent required; completion of a two-year technical degree in Instrumentation, Electrical, or a related field preferred
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a production or maintenance environment as an Instrumentation or Electrical Technician; equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
State of WV Journeyman Electrician license or equivalent credentials (typically 8,000 hours of field experience and 700 hours of classroom training)
Proficient in troubleshooting and maintaining DCS, PLC, and process control systems
Demonstrated experience with smart transmitters, HART communicators, Provox, mass and magnetic flow meters, radar level transmitters, and electronic calibration databases
Strong knowledge of electrical and instrumentation systems, including wiring practices, control loops, and power distribution
Familiar with various measurement technologies such as differential pressure, ultrasonic, radar, and float level instruments
Skilled in calibration, loop checking, and functional testing of process instrumentation
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications
Solid understanding of occupational hazards, safety precautions, and compliance standards related to electrical and instrumentation work
Demonstrated commitment to fostering and maintaining a positive safety culture
Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills with the ability to provide and receive constructive feedback
Capable of working independently under minimal supervision and supporting on-call schedules for after-hours or weekend support as required
Ability to perform mathematical calculations related to electrical and instrumentation work
Must be able to distinguish colors and pass a pulmonary fit test for use of a full-face respirator with supplied air
Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation
