Receptionist- Public Defender

Cumberland County, PA is seeking a Receptionist for the Public Defender's Office to perform basic clerical responsibilities. The role involves greeting clients, managing correspondence, and maintaining office files while providing essential support to attorneys and staff.

Government Administration

Responsibilities

Clerical Duties: Types notifications and departmental documents; answers telephone; assists clients with general information and directs calls to attorney if/as needed; prepares correspondence and departmental documents; opens, sorts, and distributes mail; and prepares machines for daily use; prepares materials for staff as directed
Greets and assists walk-in individuals
Updates court and offices with attorney assignment changes
Creates electronic copies of paper discovery and downloads electronic discovery from evidence.com or similar platforms
Assists staff and clientele with a variety of duties including preparing files and gathering docket information for bench warrant court
Gathers domestic relations files for the Domestic Relations Attorney
Manages the closed files for the office, i.e. files and pulls closed client files as necessary
Other duties as assigned

Required

High school diploma or equivalency, plus some clerical and computer training
A minimum of 2 years' experience working in an office environment; county government or court system preferred
