Responsibilities

Assemble, install, and test all engine electrical equipment, wiring, and components
Assist test personnel to troubleshoot problems that arise with electrical/electronic systems during engine run-in test
Receives assignment, wiring diagrams, engineering and vendors specifications and written or verbal instructions
Build electrical sub-assembly systems, install and wire all electrical systems on engine
Checks and tests all electrical equipment and wiring, performing operations such as visually check all wiring, connections and equipment relays in engine to schematic wiring diagrams; checks setting and operation of relays, voltage regulators, carbon stats, etc., and adjusts as required; visually inspects all rotating equipment to ensure it meets specifications; connect AC/DC power supply and test low voltage circuits; checks and sets frequency relays; checks generators per engineering specifications, starts all rotating equipment and makes running check; checks operation of electronic devices such as transmitter, receiver, and amplifier; hooks up meters and testers to diagnose faulty operation of equipment and makes adjustments
Loads PLC programs, troubleshoots, repairs minor defects and refers major programmable logic control (PLC) defects to electrical engineers
Verifies functionality and troubleshoots engine control and safety systems per engineering instructions
Perform testing of aftermarket parts as required for nuclear dedication; may require developing fixtures and testing per engineering instructions
Operates a switchboard putting engines online or resistor bank as required
Makes loading provisions for engine test
Connects in proper sequence and operates, recording of graphic voltmeters, ammeters, kilowatt meters and frequency meters
Installs, connects and operates various motor generator sets and electric starters
Mounts components of static exciter and voltage regulator in space provided and, working with drawings, connects with proper size wire in correct phase sequence
Operates breakers and switches on balcony test floor and in transformer yard for different buss arrangements and test conditions
Receives and checks for proper components
Troubleshoots and repairs static exciters, rectifiers and voltage regulators
Maintains and repairs resistive load banks
Changes buss arrangements and switches circuitry of resistor banks from AC to DC
Checks phase sequence and synchronizes test engine generator with line buss and adjusts reactive current for unity or power factor load as required
Assembles and prepares equipment for military contract special governor tests and generator tests
Assembles and prepares equipment for and conducts special electric tests
Makes loading provisions for engine test
Reads meter and keeps records of engine while on test
Cleans generators and exciters
Maintains proper water level in storage batteries
