Higher Education

Responsibilities

Teaching in the Master's, Advanced Certificate, and the APA-accredited PhD Programs in School and Counseling Psychology
Establish and maintain a comprehensive agenda of research and scholarship in the area of research methodology and academic intervention
Provide effective mentorship to promote graduate students’ professional competence, skill development, and research, including doctoral dissertations
Contribute to initiatives and activities in the division and university, and pursue external funding for research, teaching, and service
Make major contributions to the instruction of graduate student courses in the assessment sequence in both counseling and school psychology

Required

Earned doctorate from an APA-accredited program in school psychology (graduates from other related psychology programs may be considered if they have school experience)
Commitment to diversity and excellence in graduate preparation
Established record of (or demonstrated ability to establish) a comprehensive and sustained agenda of research, scholarship, and grants in culturally-relevant school psychology
Competence in research methodology and academic intervention, and competence to make major contributions to the instruction of graduate students' courses in the research sequence for students in both counseling and school psychology
Skills to serve as an academic adviser and research mentor for graduate students
Ability to work collaboratively with faculty and students across the college and university
Contribute to the School Psychology Program's academic and programmatic activities, including advising, grading of comprehensive examinations, student orientation, admissions, and coordination of certain program-level activities
Potential to provide service to schools, professional associations, and other agencies
Hold license as a psychologist in New York or licensure-eligible in New York

Preferred

Competence in teaching division-wide courses in the biological and social bases of human behavior and research methods
Knowledge and competence in teaching research methodology courses, such as quantitative statistical analysis, regression & correlation, fundamentals of psychological and educational measurement, and introduction to research courses; academic intervention, program development, student mentoring, and dissertation advisement
Experience with instructional technology applications
Strong evidence of scholarly writing for publications and/or grant proposal writing
Successful outreach activities with educational and other agencies and service to national school psychology associations
