Staff Observability Engineer
Healthie is the world’s leading API-first, ONC-Certified EHR for healthcare delivery outside of the hospital. They are seeking a Staff Observability Engineer to build self-service observability tooling and templates that empower engineering teams, accelerate troubleshooting, and improve developer productivity as the platform scales.

Responsibilities
Build self-service observability tooling and templates that empower engineering teams to create dashboards and alerts
Accelerate troubleshooting and improve developer productivity as the platform scales
Lead post-incident reviews and establish patterns that strengthen operational excellence
Qualification
Required
8+ years of software engineering experience, including scaling observability systems in a SaaS environment
Confident designing and operating monitoring, logging, and tracing solutions; quick to get up-to-speed with new tools and systems
Strong foundation in distributed tracing, service instrumentation, alerting automation, metrics pipelines, and log aggregation
Skilled at uncovering blind spots, building meaningful dashboards, and improving system resilience at scale
Excellent communicator who can explain complex systems concepts in clear, simple language—both written and verbal
Organized, self-directed, and comfortable working independently while mentoring others
Curious problem-solver who digs deep, asks sharp questions, and quickly diagnoses and resolves issues
Experienced with tools of the trade: SumoLogic, AppSignal, Datadog, Grafana, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, Postgres, Redis, Sidekiq, and modern cloud infrastructure
Seeking to shape observability at scale—not as a stepping stone, but as a long-term craft and impact role
