Berkeley County (SC) Government is looking for a Grounds Technician to provide curbside collection services and maintain parks and green spaces. The role involves operating various maintenance equipment, performing landscape maintenance, and ensuring a clean and safe work environment.

Government Administration

Responsibilities

Perform routine landscape maintenance of entrances, parks, and green areas

Operates Dump Truck and Chipper to collect and dispose of bulk yard debris

Collect and transport residential solid waste including metal goods, e-waste, and miscellaneous debris

Operates small power tools such as but not limited to mowers, trimmers, edger, blowers, chainsaws, chippers, stump grinders, tillers, sprayers, trailers, and tractors with various attachments

Operate County vehicles including small dump trucks with manual transmissions

Assists in performing scheduled preventative maintenance of equipment and vehicles

Maintain a clean and safe shop area

Utilizes hand tools such as shovels, rakes, brooms, cutting/trimming equipment and light mechanical tools

Responsible for use of PPE and safe operation of vehicles and equipment

Required to attend all training and safety briefings

Assist other staff members in operations, as needed

Loads and unloads equipment and supplies

Performs manual labor as required

Performs other duties as assigned
